Genius Hour is a passion project-based learning model that includes three aspects: 1) Student chooses to driving question , 2) the project must Involve research , and 3) the student must share What They Learned. During the class, students Could Blog About Their progress. This was a summer course Offered at the Shafter Learning Center from June 8th to July 8th, 2015 Where 5th and 6th grade students to discover things guided Were They are passionate about Learning on Mondays and Wednesdays, 3:30-5:00pm.

I'd like to give a special thanks to David Franz, Amerika Nino-Rodriguez, Melissa Bergen, and the Shafter Learning Center for making this course possible!

Students brainstormed ideas they were curious about on the "Wonder Wall"

Pursuing passion projects includes creating a driving question to guide the student in Their learning. A driving question can capture the heart of the project by providing purpose using clear and compelling language. Make a difference in the world. Convince or educate someone. We Took a lot of time developing and brainstorming ideas, our creative minds to get moving. Our brainstorms included to Wonderwall , Bad Idea Factory , and Googleable vs. Non-Googleable Questions .

After brainstorming, student groups pitched proposal ideas, and received feedback from Their peers.   Group 1 ,Group 2 , Group 3 , and Group 4 used to Padlet to share and Collaborate on Their ideas. After That, it was up to the students to research Their thoughts online.

One student decided to learn about how to make cake pops!

Finally, after the students complete their projects, they create and share them with the world!  Below are a list of the Genius Hour students, their project titles, and links to their projects.  Please view, give feedback, and share with friends and family!
