Digital Citizenship Lesson
on Google Hangouts

After giving a training on "How to Teacher Digital Citizenship" to Golden Oak Elementary Staff, I let the teachers know they could book me for teaching a lesson to their students.

So, 5 brave GO Kindergarten teachers booked me for a Digital Citizenship Lesson on a Thursday morning.  I went to each of the teachers' classrooms and made sure they were ready to go.  Brought up Chrome, hangouts.google.com/, made sure their camera, mic, and speakers were working.  Did a test call and went to 4 more classes to do the same.  It took about 50 minutes.  Then, I went in a pod between 2 classes and started the Google Hangout Call-- expecting all the bats of technical difficulty to fly loose.  But everything went smoothly!

I shared my screen, so all the teachers could see my slides and I gave a lesson about how to respect and protect online.  Tried to show a video, but that didn't work, so I messaged the teachers the link to show later.  After the presentation, we got 6 Kinder kids on devices and they joined our Kahoot Game and answered questions about how to be a good citizen online.  The teachers and students did an AMAZING Job!  After saying goodbye, I had to go back to each class for a "groupie" photo with them in person!
